The Lifespan of a common Kansas Metal Band. This weeks Epic Fail is brought to you by Droydika. A common Kansas Metal Band from Great Bend Kansas. Their music was actually pretty good, In my opinion. You can judge for yourself by clicking here.
Blog 1.) January 11, 2008 The Beginning: ---We (Droydika) are starting to record one of our songs for the dozens and dozens of fans. We got the scratch track for a song entitled "Go To Sleep" recorded and will begin laying the drum track next week. We are very excited about what we are doing and can't wait to get the song up on here. It's a departure from what most of us have done in previous bands and doesn't sound like anything you have heard from around here. But don't worry...we have definitely not forgot our metal!!! Till next time remember: you are a figment of someones imagination. -- --JR Blog 2.) April 24, 2008 The Hunt For Famedom ---Hello to the dozens of droydika fans around this fine country...err...i mean county....anyways....though we have had a few setbacks the past couple weeks, including line-up changes and my amp blowing, we are back on track now. I got a new amp today, randall rx120 or some shit, sounds killer. William is moving along nicely on the bass and is starting to add his own element to our sound. We really want to play a show and are beginning to look for places dates and other bands for the celebration of the decade, our first show!!! Till next time....remember that little monster/alien thing that bursts out of peoples stomachs in the movie 'aliens'....yeah thats us...and the stomach is kansas...you follow?...don't worry you never will... --ToniP Blog 3) June 09, 2008 The Beginning of The End ---Wow....last night was one hell of an experience. First off we want to thank all the music lovers who came out and moshed their brains out for us. You guys were awesome!!!! Thanks to the other bands La Dispute and Juicehead...all those guys were really cool and fun to jam with. Also want to thank the Back Alley for letting us play there...one of the coolest venues ever....cement floors, low ceilings, no air circulation, and HOT ASS lights in your face....JUST LIKE A METAL SHOW SHOULD BE!!!! And last but CERTAINLY not least....thanx to Joe, Ian, and especially Kenny for all the help you guys gave us. It would have been a lot more work for us by ourselves! Thanx again to all the music fans there last night...WE HAD A KILLER TIME AND CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!!!!! Till next time remember: DROYDIKA OR DIE!!!! --ToniP Blog 4) August 20, 2008 The Trend Dies ---Through the misfortunes of life and friendships the beloved band "Droydika" is no longer. I guess all the haters of this world were right....droydika didn't work. it was a good idea and we had great potential but that wasn't enough. I would like to say that it was a band choice but it wasn't. it was a personal choice by each member to hijack our own music. We recorded a CD that hardly anyone got to hear because half the band didn't like it. LAME. we never got our shit together about doing shows. LAME. We couldn't decide what direction to go as a band. LAME. and now we are broke up. LAME. When one person in the band doesn't care....another doesn't want to play heavy music...and yet another is lured by the endless opportunities of the coolest city on earth....then it leaves me here blaming myself for being to pushy (admittedly stubborn and sarcastic) and to ponder the possibilities....and be pissed off about what might have been. But as before...and as i have told others to do....i will get down off my cross, and use the wood to build a bridge, to get the fuck over it. C'est La Vie THE TREND IS DEAD MOTHER FUCKERS....LIVE IT!!!! --Toni Fuckin Potamkin Another Epic Fail chronicled. These guys never stood a chance. Rest in peace you fuckers. |

Every week Kansas Metal Scene is going to shine a light on a band lost in the mayhem of life. A lot of people love to watch the going ons of the successful, let's give it a try in the other direction. What say you? The ayes have it and we're off to a successful start, err should I say a lousy end. These are all true accounts. Lets see what misery I can dredge up this week in a little blog roll I like to call Epic Fail !!!
